"Augusta's team went above and beyond. The lifetime support promise isn't just marketing - they really deliver."
"Best experience I've had with any financial company. Truly the gold standard in customer service."
Augusta's $50,000 minimum is the highest of the five companies on this site, so it fits one profile above all: a saver with a large 401(k), 403(b), TSP or IRA balance who wants to move part of it into physical metal and wants a structured education process before buying. Our home page describes that process as a one-on-one web conference, salaried educators who are not paid on commission, and a seven-step rollover.
Augusta is a poor match in four situations. In each one, another company on this site may fit better.
A gold IRA involves three parties, and Augusta is only one of them. You own the metals. An IRS-approved custodian administers the IRA; our home page names Equity Trust as the custodian Augusta partners with. An IRS-approved depository stores and insures the metals; the home page lists Delaware Depository with segregated storage by default, which means your coins and bars are held apart from other investors' holdings instead of being pooled.
Augusta itself is the dealer and educator. It sells you IRS-eligible metals and coordinates the paperwork, but it does not act as custodian and it does not hold your metals.
Augusta's pros list mentions a transparent fee structure, but a claim is not a quote. Our home page fee table estimates a $50 setup fee, $80 to $100 a year in custodian fees and $100 to $150 a year in storage for Augusta. Treat these as estimates and ask for the current numbers in writing.
The ratings table above lists an A+ from the Better Business Bureau, AAA from Business Consumer Alliance, 4.9/5 on Trustpilot and 4.9/5 on Consumer Affairs. Ratings change, so open each profile on the day you decide and read the individual complaints, not just the grade.
Celebrity endorsements, including the brand ambassador named on our home page, are advertising. They say nothing about fees.
Using only figures on this site, Augusta lists the highest minimum ($50,000) and the highest rating (4.9/5). Goldco lists $25,000 and 4.8/5, with a buyback program and a silver bonus on qualifying accounts. Noble Gold lists $20,000 and 4.7/5 and offers a Texas depository option. American Hartford Gold lists $10,000 and 4.7/5, with a silver promotion worth up to $15,000. Birch Gold Group lists $5,000 and 4.6/5 and was founded in 2003.
If the minimum decides your choice, Augusta rules out accounts that the other four would accept. If education and ongoing support matter more, Augusta's process is the part of its offer to examine closely.
Ask Augusta Precious Metals for its written fee schedule and buyback terms before you fund an account.
